This listing is for the ceramic mug pictured.
Handmade in my home studio in Wallagoot, NSW. First, I stitch the design with thread onto a piece of fabric. Then i create a template of the design on a piece of clay that I bisque fire. Once my template is fired, I roll out a slab of midfire clay and use the template to emboss the design onto it. I then hand build the mug into the desired form.
After the first firing, it is glazed with a foodsafe glaze and fired to 1220degrees.
Each part of the creation of this mug is performed by me. The process began with the design being hand stitched by my hands and ends with you using the mug to enjoy your favourite drink.
As this mug is handmade, it is unique and may have imperfections which give it character. This mug is a piece of functional art that can be enjoyed every day and can last a very long time. As with most ceramics, your mug will last longer if you hand wash it.
Handmade ceramics is a slow process and every step is carefully considered. As such, I hope that you enjoy using the mug as much as I enjoyed making it!
This mug measures 10cm high and is 7.5cm wide at the rim. Capacity is 260ml. Measurements are approximate.
